Memorial Day and The Vet
 
 
Memorial Day is always a hard day for you.
 
We can't fully understand, no matter how hard we try to.
 
Some things, you'll never voice.
 
Sometimes, we see the 'rockets' red glare' and wonder if you,
 
Really enjoy the fireworks the way that we do.
 
You went, and served, though you had a choice.
 
On this day, and Veterans Day, too,
 
We proudly break out the Red, White and Blue.
 
You make sure it's a bright, new Flag that you hoist.
 
For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor
 
That the protected will never know.
 
Your eyes, still haunted, grow moist.
