| Florida Property Rights Return

February 1, 2003 By Mary F. Stump Cape Coral, Florida Honorable Governor Jeb Bush, Once again I am writing to let you know of the strong opposition I have towards the land grabbing environmental groups. The forbidden seawall, docks and new marine construction from the Florida Keys to Tampa -- in the name of saving the manatee -- is just a small part of the much larger plan called The Wildlands Project. Under this plan, 'Florida Forever' is actively gaining control over its intended goal of 80% of the land mass. I recently became aware that elected representatives have absolutely no control over these situations as they abdicated their duty to make law regulating these environmental groups. Nonetheless, Gale Norton has caved into these groups on the Klamath Basin issue and the threat of indictments for not doing enough to protect the manatee. Folding under pressure indicates a weakness we cannot afford. She must step aside. (Copies of this letter are being sent to various elected officials.) The people of south Florida demand the federal government abandon its efforts to control our lives and our property. Controlling our borders has been shamefully neglected as a Constitutional duty -- while harassment, aggravation and destruction of property rights has become sport. We expect our elected officials to wrest control from environmental groups at the federal level and make this a state issue where we can actively pursue scientific, accurate measures to live with the environment. We are an angry bunch of Americans, networking across the United States who will fight with our pens and ink, our voices and by electing officials who will get involved by passing legislation that will put an end to this nonsense. Congressman Inhofe and Richard Pombo heard from us loud and clear and we support their efforts. Please, Governor Bush, use whatever means necessary to fight for the property rights of Floridians and remove the federal government from our backyards and our business.
