Michael Schiavo and concern for his loved one

October 22, 2003

I just read an article by D. S. Sommer (Tampa Bay Tribune) regarding a fax sent by Michael Schiavo, Terri Schiavo's husband. Mr. Schiavo claims to be having difficulty accepting the court's ruling to have his wife's feeding tube removed.

His attorney, George Felos explains that when you decide to remove a loved one's life support, you continually struggle to accept it.

I agree with Mr. Felos, however in the case of Mr. Schiavo, his loved one is not his wife, Terri Schiavo, in a hospital bed struggling for her life. No, Mr. Schaivo's current "loved one" is his pregnant fiancee, with whom he has been living for years, and by whom he already has had one child.

My advice to Mr. Schiavo and Mr. Felos is, if you are trying to gain some sympathy you should try a story that is a little more believable.

And they have the audacity to accuse Terri's parents of "misinformation."
