| F.B.I. joins investigation of
SUV vandalism at New Mexico car dealership
September 6, 2003 The Associated Press Santa Fe, New Mexico - The FBI is looking into vandalism at an SUV dealership in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Police say dozens of SUVs were covered in graffiti -- in a fashion similar to other attacks at dealerships across the country. In the latest incident, the seven deadly sins, like "Avarice" and "Gluttony," had been written on the vehicles. Police say the initials "ELF" where among the messages, a likely reference to the radical Earth Liberation Front. The underground group has taken responsibility for vandalizing SUVs at dealerships in Santa Cruz, Pennsylvania, Seattle and Oregon. Last month, the group said it was behind a vandalism and arson spree that targeted SUVs at several car dealerships and on the streets of suburban Los Angeles. The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been investigating the incidents. Copyright 2003 Associated Press |
