Well Pumping - No Compensation
August 21, 2003 By Barb Hall Klamath Falls, Oregon 14,951.53 AF (acre-feet) have been pumped from TID wells to avoid 2003 Klamath Project shutdown. No compensation, no negotiation, no contract, no representation by irrigators. This is IN ADDITION TO the Department Of Interior's (DOI) project downsize demand -- named 'water bank' -- of 17,000 acres idled land and 50,000 AF of water, and thousands of AF water from private irrigators. This is IN ADDITION TO tens of thousands of AF water above the 2003 operations plan's requirement of water taken from our storage. http://www.klamathbasincrisis.org/ TID (Tulelake Irrigation District) update: http://www.klamathbasincrisis.org/0kbctidwells082003.htm Water levels: http://www.klamathbasincrisis.org/0kbctidwaterlevel082003.htm |
