Several municipalities have joined together to express their concerns about the plan which limits building close to the shoreline. Mark Ingersoll, a Grand Manan village councillor, says the new rules could be devastating for the local economy. (Email Mark: yankee@nbnet.nb.ca ) "What it all boils down to in a nutshell is what this does is it restricts development. And without development, you're going to be frozen in time." He says both the traditional fishery and those in the aquaculture industry use beach areas to load, unload and store gear. He believes such activities would be banned if the plan is adopted.
