Mining Industry exempt from reporting releases of some toxic metal

The U.S. EPA will allow mining companies to release certain heavy metals into the environment without reporting the releases to federal regulators.

While well-known toxic metals like lead and mercury must still be reported from mining operations, others like arsenic, cadmium, copper and beryllium will not.
