(Note: This is a crying shame and a cowardly way to mess with an honest man who's doing nothing but trying his darnedest to make life better for all folks in Washington, particularly the rural areas.)

Okanogan, Washington - A horse belonging to state Representative Joel Kretz was shot and killed in a corral next to his home in Okanogan County.

The sheriff's office says a state wildlife agent used a metal detector to locate the bullet in the animal and didn't think the shooting was accidental.

The sheriff's office is investigating Saturday's shooting and says last year someone vandalized the sign to the lawmaker's property.
