/24-7PressRelease.com/ - The case of Terri Schiavo is, foremost, a case of abuse.

This fact is what everyone seems to neglect.

Before getting into the right to live or die argument, let's first deal with the fact of years of ongoing abuse toward Terri.

[For] 15 years Michael Schiavo has prevented Terri from getting proper rehab.

Where are the women's right groups, as Terri lies dying in Florida?

Where are the voices that had cried for women's rights since the 1960s?

Where are the organizations that get huge grants to help women?

They are silent as a grave afraid to speak lest they upset the political apple cart; and one woman who represents millions of vulnerable women is starving to death in the hands of an abusive husband.

Understand the precedent and the message that this case will set for the generations of abusive husbands.

An abusive man can beat his wife to a vegetative state, use his legal pass as next to kin to prevent the evidence from recovery, make money on insurances and doctors -- and after the checks are cleared suddenly remember that his wife expressed a wish to die in a similar situation.

Then contact pro-death attorneys who will protect him to further their political agenda.

I lay motionless. "Oh my God, I killed her; I have to get out of here," he yelled as he run to the door.

I was unconscious, yet I heard every word he said.

There were no visible bruises on my body and by the Grace of God I woke, hours later.

I tell this as a survivor of domestic violence, author of a book of a victim's account of abuse and advocate of women's right to recovery from abuse.

I could've been Terri.

None of us really knows what happened to Terri.

No investigation was allowed.

Why?

There is a trail of leads to an abusive husband.

Yet, all are hushed in a wrangling of legal papers and a pro death judge and attorney.

In the past two years alone, Terri has not been allowed to see the light of the sun nor has she been allowed to have her window open for fresh air. No MRI, no modern medical care, no cameras.

Regardless what this case is about, it is primarily a case of an abuse against an impaired woman.

As a victim of domestic abuse, I see abuse, I smell abuse.

Something is very wrong.

When one woman can't fight for herself, we have to fight for her.

I call all the women groups to action.

Come fight for your sister now.
