In the course of each day, doing property rights and resource providing research, I deal with acronyms for various government agencies and departments, programs, initiatives, and so much more. Having a lifelong love of words, new uses and arrangements of words always piques my interest. This passion, coupled with the knowledge that such shuffling often represents a directive to change the Constitutional Republic that we cherish, keeps me hard on the trail of what things really mean. You need to know that what appears to be a word or phrase you can trust -- that you have been TAUGHT and CONDITIONED to trust -- can and often DOES mean the polar opposite.

For example, to "protect and restore" often means "to control." To "manage" often means "to control". Some phrases -- like "sustainable development" and "best practices" -- are nebulous at best and deceiving to the average reader. American ingenuity and self-reliance are good things, not something we should be made to feel guilty about. Our country has not been "depleted" or "degraded", as the resource control freaks would have us believe.

To that end, I've provided a half-dozen acronyms, along with their meanings, and have fleshed out a bit more about each. Within the descriptions of these six are many more acronyms and their explanations. It is truly 'alphabet soup'!

The language deception used to describe these acronyms is done to allay concerns; I've underlined its use for the reader's ease in spotting the treachery.

It is my hope that these six will whet your appetite for more truth and will help you better understand what you read.

They, and thousands more, plus treaty law and case law summaries, are examples of what you'll find in my CD-ROM,  which is a great buy at $50 + $3 S/H (Make check payable to: Julie K. Smithson, 213 Thorn Locust Lane, London, OH 43140) Order form that may be printed, filled out and mailed: http://www.propertyrightsresearch.org/orderform.htm Order today and be sure to order extra copies for other savvy folks and elected officials that you wish to educate and empower with the truth. Compiled by a layman, FOR laymen, this CD-ROM is easy to search and contains well over a thousand pages' worth of information. Order ten copies, shipped to the same address, and get free shipping plus only pay for nine ($450 gets 10 CDs). How much is your freedom worth? How much would you expect to pay an attorney or researcher for this much information? How important is it to you that your children/grandchildren are able to HAVE ANY property rights or the chances you had to be farmers, fishermen, loggers, miners, ranchers -- or enjoy the direct benefits of those industries in America? You can't afford NOT to have this CD-ROM -- it exists to help you! If you already have your CD-ROM, please email me and I'll send you the Word file -- currently 160+ pages in length -- that is this year's Addendum. Warning: this Word file takes awhile to download and is 1.22 MB.

And now, your alphabet soup!

EHL – The Endangered Habitats League - The Endangered Habitats League is dedicated to the protection of the diverse ecosystems of Southern California and to sensitive and sustainable land use to the benefit of all the region's inhabitants. EHL identifies and safeguards our most critical lands. From majestic oak woodlands and scenic meadows, to gentle hillsides of coastal sage scrub, to the life sustaining waters of streams and wetlands, we advocate for the preservation of natural habitats in San Diego, Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties and related ecological regions. EHL gives voice to the plants and animals for whom it is our privilege and responsibility to speak. This region is one of the world’s most biologically diverse, and many of our plant and animal species are threatened with extinction. As Southern California’s only regional conservation organization, EHL has led the way in establishing an unprecedented, interconnected system of nature reserves. However, there is much more work to do. By focusing on science-based priorities, and using the Endangered Species Act as leverage, we continue the monumental work of preserving our natural heritage for future generations. Collaboration: EHL uses an innovative approach for environmental advocacy that captures the value of collaboration. Along with communities, businesses, landowners, and government agencies, we develop solutions that serve all stakeholders and preserve nature. Our integrity and results-oriented methodology has garnered respect and credibility among a broad spectrum of groups and agencies. These relationships continue to lead to ever-greater opportunities for conservation. As a team of seasoned professionals, we at EHL apply the highest standards to all aspects of our work. We drive the implementation of state of the art management and maintenance practices for the stewardship of preserve lands. We employ the best science and research for the most effective environmental advocacy and conservation. When all other means have been exhausted, we take legal measures to protect our natural heritage. EHL works to establish healthy co-existence between people and nature by integrating comprehensive and sustainable land use with permanent resource protection. Boasting one of the world’s most desirable climates as well as beautiful natural landscapes, Southern California’s metropolitan region draws a constant influx of new businesses and residents. In response, EHL participates in regional planning to curtail sprawl and preserve intact rural and agricultural landscapes. We actively support the revitalization of urban areas and the development of vibrant community centers, effective mobility and affordable housing choices. Through our continued participation in planning efforts, we can achieve the highest quality of life for all the region’s inhabitants. http://www.ehleague.org

IAD – The Inter-American Dialogue; [VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: This is one of the global tentacles designed to remove the middle class from America and steamroller our sovereignty. Please read and very carefully consider the players and what they stand for. It is also important to note the IAD “Board of Advisors”.] The Inter-American Dialogue is the premier center for policy analysis, exchange, and communication on issues in Western Hemisphere affairs. The Dialogue engages public and private leaders from across the Americas in efforts to develop and mobilize support for cooperative responses to key hemispheric problems and opportunities. The Dialogue's most important asset is its membership of 100 outstanding public and private leaders from the United States, Canada, and 21 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean-including political, business, academic, media, and other nongovernmental leaders. Nine Dialogue members served as presidents of their countries and more than a dozen have served at the cabinet level. The Sol M. Linowitz Forum assembles this group once every two years to address the most important issues affecting the Americas. The conclusions of the Forum are published and widely circulated in a comprehensive report on hemispheric affairs -- with recommendations for governments, international organizations, and private groups. Dialogue activities are directed to generating new policy ideas and practical proposals for action, and getting these ideas and proposals to government and private decision makers in local, national, and international organizations. We also give diverse Latin American and Caribbean voices access to Washington policy discussions. Although based in Washington, the Dialogue conducts its work throughout the hemisphere, in close collaboration with institutions in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada. A majority of our Board of Directors are from Latin American and Caribbean nations, as are more than half of the Dialogue's members and participants in our other leadership networks and task forces. A recent independent review of the Dialogue concluded that we had become the most important hemispheric policy forum, and that no other independent institution could match (a) our access to government policy makers and private opinion leaders in the Americas, (b) the range of issues and countries our programs address, or (c) the caliber and balance of our forums, publications, task forces, and other activities. Since 1982 -- through successive Republican and Democratic administrations and many changes of leadership elsewhere in the hemisphere -- the Dialogue has helped shape the agenda of issues and choices in inter-American relations. President Bill Clinton observed, "For 14 years the Inter-American Dialogue has played a leading role in framing the debate on issues that really matter to the people of our hemisphere." President Fernando Henrique Cardoso of Brazil, a founding member of the Dialogue, stated that the Dialogue "has made a great contribution to the favorable atmosphere prevailing in hemisphere affairs at present."” “The Dialogue's most important asset is its membership of 100 outstanding public and private leaders from the United States, Canada, and 22 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean-including political, business, academic, media, and other non-governmental leaders. Nine Dialogue members served as presidents of their countries, more than a dozen have served at the cabinet level, one is a sitting governor, and fourteen have held seats in Congress. Nearly 20 per cent are in the business or finance sectors. Six members are associated with the media and nine with universities. The Dialogue's members are an intellectually and politically diverse group, which includes Republicans and Democrats from the United States, and views from across the political spectrum in Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Members are united by their commitment to democratic principles, free and vigorous discussion, and regional economic cooperation.” “Grant Support: The Inter-American Dialogue's programs and operating expenses are supported by a number of foundation, government, international organization and corporation grants. IATP - Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, also known as Trade and Global Governance http://www.iatp.org and http://www.iatp.org/global/ About: Trade and Global Governance works with colleagues around the world to democratize the multilateral system of policymaking. Our primary strategy is to strengthen the voice of civil society by linking the social movements working on trade, finance, development, peace and security, human rights, labor, gender, the environment and corporate accountability. A report entitled The Treaty Database: A Monitor of U.S. Participation In Global Affairs, by IATP's Patricia Jurewicz and Kristin Dawkins, found that the Senate has ratified only 10 treaties since 2000 [NOTE: But! How many legally binding instruments have been slipped through, under the radar screen of public knowledge? Treaties are not the only binding legal documents. See "Key Terms" in my CD-ROM.]. The entire [114-page] report can be read at http://www.iatp.org or at: http://www.tradeobservatory.org/library.cfm?refid=37205
