The Long Walk for Terri's Freedom - In Defense of Life

Beginning December 12, 2003, a winter walk across the country, 2,100 miles in 53 days, the march In Defense of Life is an amazing demonstration of support for Terri Schindler-Schiavo and the Florida lawmakers who stood for her right to live.

The walk -- from Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, Minnesota, is expected to arrive in Florida's capitol, Tallahassee, on May 13, 2004.

The route follows the Mississippi River to New Orleans, then along the Gulf coast to Tallahassee. This is a demanding and perilous sacrifice, but it will obtain manifold graces for the defense and dignity of life... There will be a prayer vigil from 7-9 pm daily along the route.

Organizers call the movement an offering of  "prayers, penance and sacrifice in solidarity with our sister, Terri Schiavo and in support of Governor Jeb Bush for his courageous defense of the sanctity of life."

There will also be an "updates" tab in the upper right corner of the flyer.

A new update for December 28, 2003, should be posted within the next few days.

The march started at the Split Rock Lighthouse in Two Harbors, and has already progressed for almost 350 miles, through Brainerd, St. Cloud, and to Coon Rapids, Mn.  It will be moving through Minneapolis and St. Paul to Hastings in the next three days, then down Hwy. 61 to New Orleans.

Financial contributions are for the support of the march, primarily for gasoline and heating propane, insurance, maintenance, etc., for the support vehicles and travelling shrine, and food for the walkers.

Let us know if you want to come and join the walk for all or any portion.  You can also participate with financial support and fasting and prayer.  If you live anywhere along the route, you can also help by organizing local support for when we pass through.  Let us know.

If you want to walk or contribute, you can call Art Herkenhoff, 651-230-3098, for further information.

God bless you.
